Julie graduated from Central Queensland University with a Bachelor of Business (major in Accounting) in 1997. From there she undertook further study and graduated with a Graduate Diploma of Taxation in 1998, once again from Central Queensland University.

Julie moved to the Gold Coast in 1997 and went to work for Carlise Accountants (formerly Ash & Carlisle Pty Ltd). From here she moved to work as a Senior Accountant for The Navigator Network (formerly Gorrie Stokes & Associates). It is here that she was admitted as a CPA (Certified Practising Accountant).

Whilst on maternity leave in 2006 Julie gained registration as a Tax Agent.

In 2006 after the birth of her children, Julie decided to move her family back to the Fraser Coast, where she went to work for a local accounting firm.

Julie very quickly saw a need in the area for an Accountant specialising in the needs of individuals and small business, and hence Accounting & Tax Matters was born.
